The state of New Jersey requires Ambulatory Care Facilities to become general members of a Maternal and Child Health Consortium within their region as a licensing requirement.
Regulation 8:43A—21.1
“An ambulatory care facility which provides family planning, prenatal, postpartum, and/or gynecological services shall comply with N.J.A.C. 8:43A-1 through 11 and 13 through 19, and subchapter 21. If the facility also provides surgical or anesthesia services then the facility shall also comply with N.J.A.C. 8:43A-12.
1. The facility shall be a formal member of a Maternal and Child Health Consortium, in accordance with N.J.A.C. 8:33C.”
Regulation 8:33 C-2.2 states:
All licensed ambulatory care facilities which provide routine prenatal and intrapartal care to low risk maternity patients and care to infants and families with children up to age 21 are required to become general members of a Maternal and Child Health Consortium.
