The BIMRRC recognizes that there are multiple determinants of health that contribute to infant mortality disparities. Therefore, we must be holistic in our approach in order to reach all women of color and their families. We continue to examine physical and psychological stress, familial relationships, reproductive infections, nutrition, exercise, and socio-economic indicators, which outline several systemic factors that increase our collective risk for negative birth outcomes.
Some major achievements and highlights of the Center include:
- Hosting an Annual Perinatal Health Disparities Conference;
- Developing dedicated bibliographies on Black infant mortality reduction;
- Providing information to warm line callers and;
- Conducting educational presentations to professionals and the community at large.
