BIMRR PROGRAMS
The BIMRR Center has established a solid foundation through its programs, outreach efforts, and education.
Reduce Stress for Baby's Best
Reduce Stress for Baby's Best (RSBB) was launched in 2000. This program provided one-on-one stress management sessions to over 300 pregnant Black women to reduce the incidence of low birth weight babies and pre-term labor. Lessons learned from the RSBB program led to the development of a train-the-trainer module for Community Health Workers, entitled "There's a Meeting in the Village".
There's a Meeting in the Village
"There's a Meeting in the Village", was offered in partnership with the March of Dimes in 2006 and educated over 150 paraprofessionals about the the inverse relationship between stress and pregnancy outcomes for women of color. Paraprofessionals, in turn, were able to share the training information with over 500 pregnant Black and Latina clients.
The Black Infant Mortality Reduction Resource Center is made
possible through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Health and
Senior Services.
