Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies
(HMHB) of Essex is an affiliate of the Northern NJ Maternal/Child Consortium. The HM/HB of Essex initiates programs that bring women into prenatal care and children into pediatric care. The center's mission is to improve access to quality and risk appropriate health services for women and children through advocacy, program development, and community education. HM/HB of Essex collaborates with several local community-based organizations with specialty expertise in the areas of community outreach, health screening, asthma diagnosis and treatment, and to develop other worthwhile programs to address unmet needs. The HM/HB of Essex provides administrative oversight of its affiliated centers, as well as grant development for new outreach programs. The HM/HB of Essex supports the activities of these centers, Irvington Family Development Center, and the Safety Net Program.

Provides early childhood screeings including: vision, hearing, dental and developmental to children from birth to six years of age enrolled in Childcare Centers in Newark, Irvington, East Orange, and Orange
Provides parent education workshops, referrals, and NJ Family Care enrollment
Outreach workers will locate and educate families with eligible children and to assist the families to enroll in NJKidCare, a comprehensive and affordable health coverage program for children in New Jersey

Provides prenatal patient retrieval, case management, prenatal care referrals, maternal and child health education, emergency food and clothing distribution, and NJ Family Care enrollment.

Mom/Babies Health Project at Covenant House New Jersey

Provides access to health care and health education for homeless and at risk pregnant and parenting adolescent women and their born/unborn children. Covenant House offers case management, prenatal care, health education, parenting classes, and temporary housing.
The Strong Mothers Project at Family Connections

Provides services for pregnant and postpartum women and women of childbearing age. Offers psychosocial education, life skills training and individual mental health counselling.

Provides free pregnancy testing, case management, preconception education, health education for expectant mothers, adolescent pregnancy prevention workshops, referrals, on-site WIC registration and immunizations.

East Orange PrimaryCare Center
Provides dedicated postpartum services to ensure access to quality prenatal and infant pediatric health care to pregnant women, mothers of infants, and infants. Services offered are postpartum case management, prenatal and infant care.

Newark Infant Mortality Reduction Project

Provides prenatal care, immunizations, referrals for pediatric care, substance abuse prevention, lead screenings, and nutrition education.
