Bergen County Family Day of Wellness

Please join us for a Bergen County Family Day of Wellness on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at the Westwood Community Recreation Center, 55 Jefferson Street, Westwood, NJ from 9:00AM-1:00PM and 6:00PM to 9:00PM.  No registration is necessary for this event.This FREE event is organized by the Bergen County Professionals’ Healthy Living Project (BCPHLP), a Committee of the Northern New Jersey Maternal/Child Health Consortium in Paramus, NJ and the Perinatal Addiction Prevention Project funded by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services. The goal of the BCPHL Project is to provide parents of Bergen County with resources and information to help meet the needs of their children’s emotional, behavioral, and health needs. This event is designed to provide families with a day of learning, fun, and networking with other parents and professionals.

Bergen County parents will have an opportunity to ‘Ask the Health Professionals’ questions regarding current issues or concerns about their children’s health and well-being, including topics such as autism, adoption, bullying, teens chronically dieting, defiant behavior, how to keep your home safe from Lead Poisoning, school-related anxiety, new mom’s baby blues and depression, experimentation with alcohol and other substances, and many other topics.

More than 15 behavioral health professionals, therapists, and pediatricians will be on hand to answer these questions and provide free resources including; a directory of Bergen County services, free giveaways, and other helpful resources in the community.

Featured speaker Dr. Frank J. Sileo, pictured above, a noted psychologist and author, will present The Parenting Recipe: The Five Key Ingredients to Healthy Parenting during both the morning and evening sessions.  Dr. Sileo is a nationally-recognized presenter and will be speaking to parents about the tools and foundation necessary for positive parenting.  He will be available for questions after his presentation.

The Northern New Jersey Maternal/Child Health Consortium was founded in 1992 with the mission to improve the physical and mental health of women and children. The NNJM-CHC is an independent non-profit corporation to provide education, information, and supportive services to the northern New Jersey region.
