Healthy Families/TIP Program Holiday Workshop
The Healthy Families/TANF Initiative for Parents Program of Essex County recently held a holiday workshop for families that provided information on holiday safety, lead poisoning, and toy recalls. In addition, with the help of Toys for Tots, the program was able to distribute holiday gifts to participating children and their siblings. The families enjoyed light refreshments (holiday cookies, cake, and punch) while they learned. Families who were unable to attend received information and a holiday gift from their Family Support Worker, who visits them in their homes on a regular basis. Healthy Families/TANF Initiative for Parents of Essex County delivered this information to 87 families this holiday season.
The Healthy Families/TANF Initiative for Parents program of Essex County pairs pregnant women and new mothers with trained home visitors who visit the family’s home throughout her pregnancy until the child’s third birthday. They assist families with health information, parenting skills, child development, and referrals to health and community services.
