Paterson Holds Annual Teen Health Fair

The Paterson Public Schools, in partnership with the Northern Consortium’s RHAIN program, Healthfirst NJ, and the New Jersey Nets, recently held its Annual Teen Health Fair at Eastside High School in Paterson.  The full-day event was attended by about 2,000 students, the Mayor of Paterson, the President of Healthfirst NJ, and former NBA superstar Darryl Dawkins.  The Teen Health Fair is a way to bring a variety of organizations in one place for high school students in order to give them an opportunity to learn about health issues, educational opportunities, community resources, and post graduate opportunities (i.e. military & employment). The Annual Teen Health Fair will also feature the winners of Paterson Public Schools’ Essay, Poetry, and Art contest. The contest was to be related to the fair’s theme, “Are You Ready?” Pictured below are: first row, left to right, contest winners Karla Morrobel, Winifer Estevez and Nicia’ Le Bethea; second row, left to right, the the Honorable Jeffrey Jones, Mayor of Paterson, Terrace Byrd, President, Healthfirst NJ, and Zatiti Moody, Principal of Eastside High School; and, back row, Darryl Dawkins.

The RHAIN program is funded by a grant from the NJ Department of Health & Senior Services.
