Saint Barnabas Medical Center Disparities Conference a Success

Ilise Zimmerman, President and CEO of the Northern Consortium, recently served on the planning committee for Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s successful perinatal disparities conference.  The conference, held at their Livingston, NJ facility, was entitled, “Perinatal Disparities: Biologic Factors and Practice Implementation”  and featured five renowned speakers that discussed topics such as genetics and nutrition, from both research and systems-based perspectives.  The conference was well-attended, and the participants were able to ask a number of detailed questions of the presenters, who provided both examples from their research and practical strategies for implementation.  The Northern Consortium would like to congratulate Saint Barnabas on both a successful conference and the significant work they have done and continue to do to help combat racial disparities in perinatal care.
